YES Webpage

Welcome to my Young Engineers and Scientists web page. My name is Javier Sanchez, I'm 16 and a rising senior at Earl H. Warren High School. I live in San Antonio, Tx, but getting ready to join The University of Texas at Austin or Texas A&M University at College Station at the end of my senior year. My family of 6 is the only one family living in the US while all my family members live in Tamaulipas, Mexico.

My favorite subjects are Physics and Calculus, but my worst is English because I'm so horrible (I didn't speak English until 3rd grade). This summer of 2008, I'm enrolled in the Young Engineers and Scientists (YES) Program at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI).I'm starting to experience the research life and how it's driven by many professionals in the industry. The Aerospace Engineering and Physics Division are the ones I'm deeply interested in here in Southwest Research Institute.

These two and a half weeks of YES will be challenging, but the perfect jumpstart to a new beginning. It's kinda rare, but awesome to be the first in my family's past generations to go to college and major in engineering and science. It's the start of an excellent future ... I can asure you that.

My specific areas of interest are:

  1. Aerospace Engineering
  2. Orbital Mechanics
  3. Spacecraft Propulsion
  4. Astrophysics
  5. Particle Physics
  6. Theoretical Physics (String Theory, M-Theory)
  7. Quantum Mechanics (Quantum Field Theory, QCD)
  8. General Relativity
