Hi, as you know my name is Chetan and I am going to be a senior at Fox Tech High School in San Antonio, Tx. Well, I was born in Hollywood, California in 1979 and I moved to San Antonio when I was about 2 months old. So I've been living here for most of my life. I am an Indian, from India, not an American Indian.
There is only one more year left for me in high school and I really don't have a specific profession that I want to go into so I think that it is time for me to explore. Basically that's what I've been doing since my freshman year. The reason is that I've been in the Bio-med program at my school. I got into it because I liked science and did well in middle school. This program is for people who want to do something in science or health in the future. They expose us to the medical field by taking us to the U.T.H.S.C. (University of Texas Health Science Center) at San Antonio. We go to visit and learn about the different labs and professions that they have at the center about once a month. In addition, we take an abundance of science courses through out the high school years to prepare us for our senior year. Our senior year is when we get to go to the health science center and do research with a doctor so we can get first-hand experience.
I've always liked math and I got into the YES Program to try and learn more about the science and engineering field. This program can get me some insight on how these fields really are so then it can help me decide what I'm more interested in. Which can then help me decide on a career that I want to pursue. As of now, I'm interested in science, bio-med, math, and medicine, so I need to find an area or niche that I enjoy.
