Biography
I, Adir Doliner, was born in Ramat Gan, Israel and at the ripe old age of 10 months old I moved to Johannesburg, South Africa. Then at the age of 6 years old I moved to San Antonio, Texas, where I have lived ever since, although I do not plan to live here in my later life. I love the game of basketball, and every facet of it. I am currently starting to like golf. I aspire to become a doctor later on in life, but as of right now I am just chillin'.
Mentor
Dr. Peter Holmes works at the Huebner Medical Center and is a member of the Orthopaedic Surgery Associates of San Antonio. Not only is Dr. Holmes an orthopaedic surgeon, but is also the team physician for the San Antonio Iguanas, who belong to the Central Hockey League. Dr. Holmes did his undergraduate work at Rensselaer Playtechnic Institute located in Troy, New York.
Project
For my ISM (Independent Study Mentorship) project I chose the field of orthopedics and my mentor is Dr. Peter Holmes, who works at the Orthopaedic Surgery Associates of San Antonio. Dr. Holmes is also the Iguana's team physician, from which my ISM prooject stems. The project is a study on both the Iguanas and Dragons hockey teams and the facial injuries that occur during the season. First I developed a simple, but effective way of collecting the data of the injuries. The data sheets are two pages: the first page having a picture of a face on it strategically divided into two quadrants, and the second page asking for the name of the player (with the injury), a description of the injury, the cause of the injury, an so forth.
The next step in the process is to collect the data from the trainers and enter them into a spreadsheet. With the costs of the injuries adding up I will show to the hockey teams how much money hockey teams would save by making it mandatory for players to wear masks.
