My project
Biography
As a Senior in High School, my goals are challenging and well planned out. I plan to go to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida to become an aircraft pilot. Upon graduation I plan to either fly for the Air National Guard in Texas or fly for international airlines. I have begun to have a taste of this goal through a class called Independent Study Mentorship with the Gifted and Talented Program. Through this course, students have the chance to study a topic they love, have a mentor to show them the ropes, and create a product about their study. In my case, I have chosen to study aviation.
Mentor
My mentor's name is Dr. Edward Allen Benson. He has a Ph.D in Business and flies on the side as a hobby. He has four of his own planes: a Bonanza Beechcraft, a bi-plane, a Cessna 152, and Cessna 172. He bought his first plane as a teenager and has been flying since this time. He has gained nearly 9,000 hours of private flying.
Project
The product I have chosen for this project is to receive my Private Pilot's License. I will need at least 40 hours of flying and I will need to pass the FAA written examination in order to obtain my license. With this, I will be able to major in Professional Aviation at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.
